Theater Brews Some Hot Hits

Now here's a hot recipe. Begin with some great music from the '50s, '60s, '70s, R&B and Motown. Add a pinch of variety, a four-time Grammy-nominated artist and Chico Vega of The Drifters, and then sprinkle some magic on top. Now mix all this with gourmet coffees and specialty teas that are roasted in the Ozarks and served with only all-natural products, and you've got a tasty blend of entertainment.
Mary Lue Ball, who has owned businesses in historic downtown Branson since 1955, has teamed up with show producer Eric "Rico J" Johnson. Together, they've recently opened Branson Hot Hits Theatre and Hot Hits Coffee & Tea Café on Commercial Street in downtown. Since the cafe opens at 7 a.m., early birds can enjoy their favorite drinks and pastries while surfing the Web with free high-speed Internet and free bingo. Prizes are awarded daily.
Shows start at 10 a.m. with "Isle of Dreams," a musical biblical play that is an inspirational story of hope. "Rico J" produces two shows: "The Hot Hits Experience" and "Chico Vega of The Drifters." These shows are at 2:30 and 8 p.m. and feature hits from the '50s through the '70s. During the show, two-time female vocalist of the year Dee Dee Hamilton pays tribute to The Platters, Tina Turner, Drifters and Motown. At 5 p.m., enjoy pizza and magic, up close and personal with The Walker Family Magic Hour.
