Mickey Gilley: Honky-Tonk Pianist
photo: shows

Celebrating his 17th year in Branson, Mickey Gilley is in top form and wowing audiences with his honky-tonk piano.

As usual, Mickey's show is a roller coaster of music and laughs, thanks in part to an award-winning band and comedian Joey Riley. Mickey Gilley performs at 8 p.m., with a 10 a.m. show on Thursday. His top-rated, award-winning, eight-piece band jumps right in as Mickey takes his audience through a musical medley of his string of number-one hits.

Always the showman, Mickey shows that he's every bit the storyteller as he recounts his days of growing up in Louisiana and the adventures he shared with his cousins and fellow keyboard players, rocker Jerry Lee Lewis and televangelist Jimmy Swaggart.

Gilley's comically expressive sidekick, rubber-faced Joey Riley, playfully bashes straight man Mickey, who slings back his own barbs. Their hilarious ad-libbing has the both of them, as well as the audience, doubled over with laughter. Joey Riley also headlines his own matinee show, "The Joey Riley Comedy & Music Review," at 2 p.m.

Don't miss Les Brown Jr. and the Band Of Renown at 10 a.m., with some 8 p.m. shows. They play the swinging hits of the '40s, '50s and '60s, including songs by Glenn Miller, Tony Bennett, Bobby Darin and Dean Martin.
